Over the course of one day, I will demonstrate and teach you how to create a landscape painting.

    Findon is 5 miles North of Worthing, 15 miles South of Horsham in a quite village, set away from the A24 main road.

    Turn off A24 main road at roundabout for Findon Village.

    There are a limited number of workshops in the UK. Each workshop equips students to paint a variety of subjects.

    My residential courses started overseas in Croatia, then the Far East and Europe, with a limited number operated in the UK. Now I am increasing UK workshops and demonstrations starting 2024. 

    International events also include workshops, masterclasses and plein air demonstrations.

    Most recent countries include Italy, Spain, China, Croatia, Thailand and  Portugal. 

    I have a long running association with local people and operators in Croatia and have run a regular course near Dubrovnik.

    “I am really honoured to know artist Joe Dowden. He is my first teacher when I came to the UK to study art in 2011. I love his watercolor art, especially about the light and reflection of the water is really creativity. I have to say that I really love his art lessons and thanks for his enthusiasm and friendliness. I wish I can have an opportunity to attend Joe Dowden's class in the future.”

    Mai Nguyen is an internationally known watercolour painter who was Leader and founder of the Vietnam Branch of the International Watercolor Society, and is an IWS Board Member. I had the privilege of being her first teacher in Watercolour. The International Watercolor Society is by far the biggest watercolour society in the world, and possibly the most international art organization ever. Her text has been faithfully reproduced here in the words she used translating into English from Vietnamese.
